About me
Hi, I am Jin Hyung Lee, a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Statistics at Purdue University, working with Professor Anindya Bhadra.
I received my Ph.D. in Statistics from the Department of Statistics at George Mason University in October 2025, under the supervision of Dr. Ben Seiyon Lee. During Summer 2023 and Summer 2024, I worked as a biostatistician intern at Astellas Pharma US, where I applied Bayesian methods to improve efficiency and rigor in clinical trial design and analysis.
Prior to my Ph.D., I worked as a Senior Researcher at the Korea International Trade Association, gaining industry experience in applied research. I received an M.S. in Biostatistics from the School of Public Health at Seoul National University under the supervision of Dr. Ho Kim, and a B.A. in Applied Statistics and Economics from Yonsei University.
My research develops scalable variational Bayes methods for massive non-Gaussian spatial data. I design fast and accurate inference methods for problems where traditional MCMC is computationally infeasible. My work combines Bayesian statistics with neural networks and generative models. These methods enable efficient analysis of complex data in environmental science, clinical trials, and economics.
